Illustrating climate conversation with a scarf

On 21 October 2021, climate scarves were given to federal politicians in Australia by Common Grace:

As an addition to the toolbox, craftivists are being mobilised to make global temperature Quick Climate Scarves for Climate Conversationalists to wear to illustrate the global temperature rise.

Free patterns are available on – a free website for knitters, crocheters, and fiber artists.

Various styles suit various levels of clothing formality so that the message can be spread even when words are silent.

Celebrating #WearTheScarf

Common Grace wrote in a newsletter on 28 October 2021:

“What a day! Last Thursday, on 21 October, we saw at least 63 of our nation’s leaders respond to our call to #WearTheScarf to show their support for urgent climate action.

Thank you to all of you who prayed for this moment last Thursday and reached out to remind your MP and Senator to #WearTheScarf and boldly call for climate action.

Common Grace CEO Brooke Prentis has recorded a personal #WearTheScarf thank you video that we would love you to watch here.

Did you see your MP or Senator #WearTheScarf? We would love you to reach out and send them a personal thank you through email, phone or on social media (please tag @CommonGraceAus)

We would also love you to share your reflections with us on seeing (or not seeing) your federal representative listen to calls to take urgent climate action and #WearTheScarf last Thursday. Please email if you are happy to share your thoughts and reflections.
