“My goal is to help promote an ecologically sustainable and socially just society. As part of that goal, I’m working towards a 100% renewable energy system for Australia. I’m also becoming increasingly interested in how to transition to a steady-state economy, that is, one with a low throughput of energy and materials, low land use and no growth in energy, materials, land use or population.”

100% renewable energy by 2017
Newstead, near Bendigo in Victoria, is to become 100% renewable energy by 2017, and become the state’s first “solar town”. In the run-up to state election, the Labor party has announced it plans a 100% renewable town based on solar and storage, and promises to ensure solar will not be discriminated against by utilities, should Labor be elected as the state’s new government.

Embark
Embark Australia is a privately funded, non-profit organisation, governed by an independent board, acting to eliminate the barriers holding back the growth of a powerful, community renewable energy sector in Australia.
