THE REGENERATIVE HOUR: The toxic chemical

31TH EPISODE OF THE REGENERATIVE HOUR: Can we turn the 2020s into ‘The Regenerative Decade’? In this series of interviews about what that would imply, we talk ecology, deep adaptation, grief, compassion, passion, connecting with nature, resilience, revitalisation, restoration, and revolution

In The Regenerative Hour no 31, we talk with American MIT scientist Dr Stephanie Seneff, author of the book ‘Toxic Legacy’, about what glyphosate does to the health of the soil and to the health of humans.

Dr Seneff brings us mounting evidence that the active ingredient in the world’s most commonly used weedkiller is responsible for debilitating chronic and auto-immune diseases, including asthma, autism, Parkinson’s, Altzheimer’s, liver disease, etc.

The dangerous chemical ingredient is called glyphosate. This chemical is claimed by manufacturers to be safe to spray on our food crops. According to Seneff, though, this is unfortunately not the case. She explains what happens when the chemical comes into our gut system, and how her research shows that some of the “modern” diseases are linked to this chemical.

However commercial farmers are being led by the agro-chemical industry to spray a crop with glyphosate multiple time during growing.

Stephanie Seneff is a senior research scientist at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. Since 2010, Dr. Seneff has shifted her research focus toward the effects of drugs, toxic chemicals, and diet on human health and disease, and she has written and spoken extensively, articulating her view on these subjects.

In 2021, Seneff published the book ‘Toxic Legacy – How the Weedkiller Glyphosate Is Destroying Our Health and the Environment’.

She gives us the science and explains how the agro-chemical product change what our body can extract from “normal” food. It appears a lot of us are deficient in sulphur and manganese.

How do we correct his diet problem? Stephanie advocates sourcing organic food when possible. This food has not been sprayed with insecticides or herbicides.

In The Regenerative Hour episode no. 30 we heard vetenarian Dr Gundi Rhoades draw the line from the soil health to our food and human health. She is author of the book ‘The Food Solution – Eating for today to save tomorrow’.

During that interview Dr Stephanie Seneff was referenced. We felt this needed a deep dive to hear direct from Stephanie. With Gundi as our guest presenter, we have some technical and medical terms explained.

Rusty sits on his verandah, listening to the birds and watching the choocken in garden and the two cows in the paddock, as he listens with interest to this discussion in Zoom which links him to Hawaii and the New England region in Australia.

We round off the hour with a quote by British tv-presenter Chris Packham discussing biodiversity loss with New Scientist magazine.
