This weekend The Sustainable Hour is celebrating Earth Day and Earth Week, along with about a billion people in 190 countries. In Geelong, we’re not expecting that many – but YOU are invited to be among those celebrating in The Pulse’s foyer.
The date is Saturday 18 April, we’ll supply tea, coffee and some sustaining nibbles – and we’ll be recording voices for our annual Earth Day program – airing on 22 April.
A number of local voices will be joining us to share their reflections, thoughts, and perspectives on where we stand.
We’ll begin at 10:00am and finish around 11:30am – and your voice would be welcomed, your opinions valued.
ABOUT EARTH DAY
Earth Day is a global day of action and awareness for the environment, held every year on 22 April. It began in 1970 in the United States, when around 20 million people took to the streets demanding better protection for air, water, and nature. Today, it has grown into the world’s largest civic environmental event.
In 2025, more than one billion people across over 190 countries took part, through tens of thousands of events – from community gatherings and school activities to large-scale campaigns and broadcasts.
While coordinated globally by EarthDay.org, most activities are locally driven.
Cheers

“The current focus on economic growth overlooks a more fundamental order. The priority should be planet first, society second, and economy last. Without a stable environment, the rest cannot function.”
