Global emissions (including Australia) are still rising, despite the crystal clear IPCC evidence that 50% reductions are needed by 2030. This means (given it is now 2022) in excess of a 10% reduction each year. The very notion of opening new fossil fuel sources is heinously irresponsible. And the embedded belief that we can still have an ‘orderly transition’ to a sustainable future is simply wrong. That time has well and truly passed us. The cost of delay on emissions reduction far outweighs, by orders of magnitude, the benefits of fast action. Good on the Greens for understanding this. Labor is still smarting from the last election and is their commitment is worrying, and the liberals simply do not understand what is at stake or are positioned to benefit from further delay. In their case, both may be true.

Why is it that the present government and the probable future one, still refuses to realize that we have gone past worrying about jobs and money, we are in an extinction event, ours!
We are currently experiencing a glimmer of what’s to come environmentally! This is our last chance to do something about climate change, if we don’t, I’ll leave it to your imagination what it will be like when all our supply chains fail including global ones creating mass starvation!
Do I need to tell you about the “dog eat dog” world that would ensue!
Global warming is increasing at a rate that no one imagined and is accelerating, we either act now, or there will be no one left to have jobs or buy anything!
